INHABITAT STUDY HOUSE 13
Designed as a trapezoidal box that soars over the landscape supported by an unusual V-shaped metallic pillar, this “floating” house allows the plot to run through it while, at the same time, takes a commanding position of the vistas. Centuries-old terracing, hillsides inhabited by pines and carob trees… this singular project takes into consideration the contour of the land and its aspect.
With walls of exposed concrete and dry-stone masonry, the ever-changing textures and warm colour tones perfectly integrate the structure into the Mediterranean environment and climate.
Centred around a large internal patio, the large glass panels bathe all the rooms with the shimmering Mediterranean sunlight. Two double bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms and private terraces, open towards the southern part of the plot, while the master suite, with its own private lounge and access to the gardens, closes the whole main program in the northwest wing.
The extensive open air living area beneath the house is essential on this stretch of the Mediterranean coast, where, during the most part of the year, daily life is spent outdoors. The ample terraces are shaded by the hovering structure of the house, contrasting with the natural grassy garden surrounding the swimming pool, that takes on the appearance of a natural pond nestled within the surrounding terracing.
This project is the key to comfortable living in a timeless property that focuses on the enjoyment of a healthy outdoor lifestyle that the local inhabitants are known for.
